Norton Antivirus is running twice, is it normal?

Added on May 7th, 2014

Hello,

I protect my computer with Norton Antivirus long time, and for the first time I have a problem:

It seems that Norton Antivirus is activated twice on my computer: a version in the system session and another in the administrator session (which is actually the only account on my windows 7 PC). In fact, I have 2 NAV.exe active , and 2 NST.exe.

I found these duplicate version after updated to 2014 version.

When I updated this week (end of April 2014), a second icon Norton Antivirus appeared, confirming the duplicate.

I just uninstall and reinstall it, and it’s always like it was before but now I only have one icon in the task bar.

Is it normal? If not, what should I do?

Thank you for your help.

Answer

Everything is normal.

You will always have two processes running Norton: one for system and another for the user account that is logged on to Windows.
